Why This Matters
Switching from toilet paper to a bidet can noticeably improve personal hygiene, as water cleans more effectively than dry paper. Many users report less irritation and a fresher feeling after each use. Beyond comfort, cutting back on paper reduces household waste and can lower ongoing supply costs over time.
Overview of the Top Bidets
The review covered six standout options: the Brondell Swash 1400, Toto S7A, Kohler Veil One‑Piece with PureWash E930, Bio Bidet BB‑2000, Toto Aurora Washlet+ S7A with Integravity system, and Kohler PureWash E820. Each unit was installed in the author’s own bathroom, giving a practical sense of how they feel during daily use.
Key Features to Consider
When comparing bidets, look for adjustable water temperature and pressure, a heated seat, nozzle self‑cleaning, and straightforward installation. The Brondell Swash 1400 includes a warm air dryer and a handheld remote, while the Toto S7A offers a sleek profile with a powerful flush‑assist feature. The Kohler Veil set combines a one‑piece toilet with a bidet seat for a seamless look.
Adjustable water pressure and temperature are standard on most models.
Heated seats and air dryers add comfort but increase price.
Self‑cleaning nozzles reduce the need for manual maintenance.
Installation generally needs a nearby GFCI outlet and basic plumbing skills.
Installation Tips
Most bidet seats attach to the existing toilet bowl and require a water supply line and an electrical outlet for heated functions. The author noted that Brondell provides a step‑by‑step video that simplifies the process, while Toto and Kohler units come with detailed manuals. If you’re uncomfortable working with water lines or electricity, hiring a licensed plumber can help ensure a leak‑free setup.
Always shut off the water supply before removing the old seat and follow the manufacturer’s torque specifications to avoid damaging the fittings.
Price Comparison
Based on the review, the Bio Bidet BB‑2000 is the most affordable at roughly $489, followed by the Brondell Swash 1400 at about $550. The Kohler PureWash E820 sits near $600, while the Toto S7A is listed around $1,343. The Kohler Veil One‑Piece with PureWash E930 reaches approximately $2,440, and the Toto Aurora Washlet+ S7A with Integravity ranges from $2,554 to $3,648 depending on the retailer.
Check the current retailer price before buying, as promotional discounts or bundle offers can change the final cost.
What to Do Next
If you’re ready to upgrade, start by measuring your toilet’s bolt spread to confirm compatibility with the chosen seat. Review each model’s installation requirements, especially the need for an electrical outlet if you want heated functions. Finally, read long‑term user feedback to gauge reliability and satisfaction over months of use.

FAQ
What is the main advantage of using a bidet over toilet paper?
The primary advantage is improved personal hygiene, as water cleans more effectively than dry paper. Many users also experience less irritation and a feeling of freshness after each use.
Do bidets require professional installation?
Most bidet seats are designed for DIY installation with basic tools, but models that need an electrical outlet for heated features may benefit from a professional if you’re not comfortable working with wiring or water lines.
Are heated seats worth the extra cost?
Heated seats add comfort, especially in colder climates, but they raise the price. Whether they’re worth it depends on how much you value that added warmth during use.
How often should I clean the nozzle?
Most nozzles have a self‑cleaning rinse that runs before and after each use. A quick wipe with a soft cloth once a week is usually enough to keep the nozzle free of buildup.
