Alex Ye XuCTO & Head of R&D, Eurobots

I build the systems around the machine.

I'm an engineer working across industrial robotics, R&D, software and AI. I enjoy connecting technologies that don't always fit neatly together, and turning complicated technical ideas into systems that are useful in the real world.

My starting point is robotics, but many of the interesting challenges sit between disciplines: machines and software, prototypes and production, technical decisions and the people who depend on them.

  4. OperationsInfrastructure, business systems, deployment, support

Meet Alex

A little about me.

I'm Alex, based in the Bilbao area in northern Spain. I work at Eurobots, where I lead technical R&D and help evaluate industrial robots, collaborative automation, vision systems and newer technologies.

Over time, my work has expanded beyond the robot itself. Some days that means evaluating equipment, troubleshooting a controller or planning a proof of concept. Other days it means developing software, improving an internal process or exploring how AI can make engineering work more effective.

I like understanding how things work, but I'm even more interested in making them work together. That includes the technical side, the commercial constraints and the people who will eventually use or maintain the result.

I don't believe every problem needs a complicated solution. Sometimes the most useful contribution is identifying what doesn't need to be built.

Selected work

A few things I'm working on.

My work spans industrial engineering, software products, automation and the systems that support them. These projects show different sides of that work — from physical machines and technical evaluation to software, infrastructure and AI-assisted development.

Industrial R&D, Eurobots

Robotics R&D that stays close to production.

At Eurobots, I lead technical evaluation and R&D across industrial, collaborative and mobile robotics. I work from the application problem outward: robot and process fit, tooling, sensing, control, communications, prototype, test — and the technical and commercial constraints around deployment.

The point is not to use the newest robot. It is to find a system that can actually be integrated, supported and justified.

More about this work

Eurobots’ work spans new and refurbished industrial robots, retrofit, robotic cells and newer collaborative, vision and mobile-robotics technologies. My role sits at the intersection of evaluating those technologies, turning them into practical demonstrations and applications, and helping connect the technical decision to the customer, supplier or partner around it.

  1. Robot and reach envelope
  2. Workpiece and process fixture
  3. Gripper and tool-change station
  4. 2D/3D vision
  5. Safety fencing and light curtain
  6. Robot controller, PLC and industrial network
  7. AMR/AGV material infeed
What integration means: a representative robot cell in plan view, not a specific customer project. The robot is one of seven interfaces that have to agree.

Product engineering, web + mobile

A social product built as an end-to-end system.

RallyKing is a cross-platform product for turning intention into real local activity: discover something to do, find people, commit, coordinate, participate and come back to a community.

I use it as a proving ground for product architecture, cross-platform UX, data and access-control rules, realtime behaviour, trust and release discipline. The interesting part is not the stack. It is keeping the complete participation loop coherent as the product grows.

More about this work

The repository spans discovery, activities and lobbies, profiles, social/community features, messaging, attendance, trust, results, organized play and operational release work. Current development is being handled with explicit verification and beta-readiness gates rather than treating “implemented” as equivalent to “live and proven.”

Illustrative interface: one participation loop from discovery to lobby to a recorded result. Example data, not usage figures.

Operations, internal systems

The engineering business has a system behind it too.

I have also worked on the operational systems around the engineering work: migrating business communication to Microsoft 365, working with Odoo-backed processes, and maintaining practical Linux, Docker, networking and document workflows.

This is not a second career as an IT administrator. It is the same habit: understand the dependency, remove unnecessary friction and leave the system easier to operate.

AI engineering, internal tooling

AI-assisted development needs controls, not just prompts.

I am developing Agent Orchestrator to coordinate bounded engineering work across Claude and Codex. It manages dependencies, isolated Git worktrees, checkpoints, verification, repair and explicit human release gates.

The goal is simple: make AI-assisted engineering repeatable and inspectable. A generated change is not the same thing as a verified change, and a verified change is not automatically a production release.

  1. Plan
  2. Isolate
  3. Execute
  4. Verify
  5. Repair if needed
  6. Integrate
  7. Human release gate
One bounded job: isolated execution, a failed check, a bounded repair, then integration that waits at a human release gate.

Publishing system, independent build

This site is part of the work.

AYXWORKS is both a publishing platform and an engineering sandbox. I use it to work on editorial UX, custom WordPress/theme development, source-controlled delivery, containerized operations and carefully reviewed AI-assisted changes.

The useful part is not the specific server or framework. It is that the design, code and operating process belong to one understandable, reversible system.

  3. Source controlEvery release is an exact commit

Approach

Understand the problem. Test the assumptions. Make it work.

I tend to approach engineering problems in the same way, whether I'm working with a robot, a software product or an internal system. First understand the constraints, then find the risky assumptions, test them and make sure the final result can be understood and maintained by someone else.

  1. Understand the context

What needs to work, for whom, and under which constraints?

  2. Test what is uncertain

Use focused experiments rather than committing to assumptions.

  3. Connect the systems

Define interfaces, responsibilities and how the parts work together.

  4. Verify and hand over

Validate the result and make it understandable to the next person.

I don't need to be the specialist in every component. I need to understand how the pieces connect, recognize where deeper expertise is needed and help the right people work together.

Industry

Sharing knowledge and learning from others.

One thing I enjoy about working in robotics is meeting the people behind the technology: engineers, manufacturers, researchers, educators and customers trying to solve real production problems.

Industry events, technical talks and tutorials are opportunities to exchange ideas, question assumptions and bring something useful back to the next project.

Technical knowledge is more useful when it moves.

I like the part of engineering that gets shared: a useful tutorial, a live demonstration, a conversation between a manufacturer and a training centre, or a proof of concept that makes an unfamiliar technology easier to understand.

Through Eurobots and ReBots, that has included public technical content, industry events and work around the robotics ecosystem.

Community & education

Engineering is worth more when we share it.

I believe the future of robotics depends on more than technology. It depends on people sharing knowledge, creating opportunities and helping the next generation turn what they learn into something real.

Industry ecosystem

Connected through the work.

Through Eurobots, we participate in the wider robotics ecosystem as a member of Robotekin and AER Automation. These networks bring industry, research and education closer together, giving us opportunities to exchange experience and support practical innovation.

Education & opportunity

Bringing classrooms and factories closer.

We are exploring collaboration opportunities with vocational schools and universities, including the centres below. We want to bring practical robotics closer to students through hands-on demonstrations, technical workshops, student projects, industrial visits and real engineering challenges.

  • Centro Formación Somorrostro
  • Grupo Peñascal (Peñascal Kooperatiba)

Learn, build, share

The REBOTS YouTube channel

Beyond classrooms, we share robotics tutorials, practical how-to videos, R&D experiments, proof-of-concept demos and reviews on REBOTS. Sometimes we also have fun with seasonal videos, from Halloween to Christmas. Sharing the process matters as much as showing the result.

Beyond engineering

Curiosity doesn't stop when I leave work.

Outside work, I'm still curious about technology. I enjoy experimenting with software, self-hosted services, devices and small projects that teach me something new.

I'm also a father of two, which has given me a different appreciation for technology that is genuinely useful, easy to understand and worth the time it takes to use.

Let's connect

Have an idea, a technical challenge or something worth discussing?

I'm always interested in meeting people working on useful technology — whether that's industrial robotics, R&D, software, engineering tools or a possible collaboration.

You don't need a polished proposal or a fully defined project to start a conversation. Tell me a little about what you're working on and we can see whether there's a useful next step.
